Jesse Eisenberg and Kirsten Stewart seem to be getting all thumbs up for their movie, which was dubbed as the best stoner film in 2015.
"American Ultra," hit theaters a few days ago, already being dubbed as the "Bourne Identity" of the bong smokers.
The story follows the Mike Howell (played by Jesse Eisenberg), whose life revolves around smoking weed and working at a convenience store - basically a guy undeserving of his girlfriend Phoebe (played by Kirsten Stewart).
Mike Howell was a former CIA agent whose memory was erased so he could lead a normal life. However, a villainous Adrian Yates (played by Topher Grace) wants all the deprogrammed CIA agents to be killed for good.
Following "American Ultra's" premiere, celebrities closed in on Jesse Eisenberg and Kirsten Stewart's performance in the movie.
"(Eisenberg) is not like a Jean-Claude Van Damme or like a Matt Damon; he's just this quirky kid that can all of a sudden kill somebody with a spoon," actor Tony Hale said, as reported by Variety.
Meanwhile, Hale expressed his amazement in Max Landis, "American Ultra's" writer and how he manages to surprise the audience, surprises one would not expect of stoner films.
"People going in here expecting the same old stuff are going to be very surprised and horrified by it," Hale said. "It's so important that people come out and support this... because it's an indie made in a big way with a really big idea and that just doesn't happen much anymore," he added.
Meanwhile, Stewart was lauded for breathing life into an otherwise dull character.
"The interplay between Eisenberg and Stewart is effortlessly charming, with Stewart adding some welcome kinks and quirks to what could have been a thankless girlfriend role," Andrew Barker of Variety said.
"American Ultra" is now in theaters worldwide.
