OnePlus announced that its latest flagship OnePlus 2 receives its first OTA update.
According to OnePlus official website, the Chinese tech start-up brings several bug fixes and improvements. This includes the StageFright exploit patch that has been rolled out in other Android devices, NDTV reported.
When it was launched two weeks ago, the OnePlus 2 was pre-loaded with Oxygen OS 2.0 in which the company claims it has "clean interface and smooth performance, while still maintaining enough customization options to stay in line with what we expect from the platform," and it is now being updated to Oxygen OS 2.0.1 Mobileburn reported.
The Oxygen OS 2.0.1 update also improves battery life and user's interface logic and coherence.
The OnePlus 2 offers incremental upgrade from its predecessor. Its camera stays at 13MP, and features different tweaks such as Super-Resolution Mode that can produce up to 50MP image quality.
Though this flagship device offers a standout camera features, its Dark Mode was reportedly causing instability in certain apps, and the update is said to fix this issue.
Other than these addressed issues, the update also brings fix on related problems with import/export of contacts stored on SIM and adds support for global carrier APNs.
According to the company's blogpost, OnePlus 2 Oxygen OS 2.0.1 update begins to roll out in India, followed by other regions.
"As you'd expect, the update will rollout in stages, starting with India. The update will start to make its way to other markets as more units starting shipping to those lucky enough to get their hands on an invite. Still, it's good to see that OnePlus is working hard to be proactive with updates, performance tweaks, and bug fixes," OnePlus wrote.
NDTV added that the update weighs in at 1.1GB, so it's more convenient for OnePlus 2 users to switch onto a Wi-fi connection before updating.
