Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's advocacy group, FWD.us criticized Donald Trump for his proposal on the US immigration policy.
In a press release, FWD.us President Todd Schulte fires back at Trump for saying that companies who hire employees through H-1B visas should be required to pay immigrant workers more money, so as to discourage companies from hiring employees from overseas.
"The anti-immigrant voices (Trump) yelling for mass deportation have no serious interest in fixing our country's broken immigration system," Schulte's statement read.
"Although it is interesting they are finally admitting what the hard-line anti-immigrant restrictionists have taken pains to avoid for decades: they want to forcibly expel millions of immigrants, period."
He added: "The idea we should radically restrict pathways for highly-skilled immigrants to come and stay here is - again - just wrong."
The FWD.us President also added that reform in the immigration policies of the US will help bring in the best workers in the world, ultimately, to benefit the US itself.
"We need to fix our nation's badly broken immigration system so that more highly-skilled immigrants can create jobs here in the United States - and that we can continue to be a magnet for the best and the brightest from all over the world," Schulte said.
Furthermore, deporting immigrant workers would cost the country more, according to Schulte.
"Deporting 11.5 million people would cost U.S. taxpayers $400 to $600 billion dollars, and would take at least 20 years to complete," he said. "Even worse, this mass deportation would reduce our GDP by $1.7 trillion - over 5%. Many industries would be hit hard, others - like agriculture, construction and hospitality - would be devastated."
Previously, Trump said that pushing for immigration policy reform would take away employment opportunities for other minorities in the US. Instead, H-1B visas should not be given as easily, contrary to what Mark Zuckerberg and FWD.us is aiming for.
"This will improve the number of black, Hispanic and female workers in Silicon Valley who have been passed over in favor of the H-1B program," Trump wrote in his immigration plan.
Trump also tagged Florida politician, Marco Rubio, as Zuckerberg's "personal senator" who lobbies for reform in immigration policies.
"Mark Zuckerberg's personal Senator, Marco Rubio, has a bill to triple H-1Bs that would decimate women and minorities," Trump said.
Zuckerberg's ZWD.us composes of tech giants like Bill Gates, pushing for professionals abroad easier access to enter the country as US workers via the H-1B visa.
