While the release date has yet to be announced, a new album is definitely in the works for Dave Matthews Band.
The American rock band who remained low-keyed for quite a while is now reportedly readly to release a new record in addition to their tour.
Furthermore, the band's vocalist, Dave Matthews revealed in an interview that they are now actually gearing up with their new songs.
"I've been in the studio trying to get a couple of things ready for the band to go back in, having fun," the band's frontman said, as reported by Relix. "I'm just trying to come up with something that doesn't sound like the past."
Moreover, he also teased that the new album will definitely feature an all new different sound compared to their previous releases.
"I think we are unique and a pretty badass band - maybe a little creakier than we once were," he explained. "We are cursed and blessed with the fact that if you want to see what the band is like and get to know us, then you have to see us live or at least listen."
And while new music will be in the new album, Dave Matthews admitted that it will also include unreleased tracks from their tours.
"There are some songs the band has been playing for a long time," he hinted. "And then whenever I start messing around in the studio, I start writing, so hopefully we can come up with something worth listening to."
Dave Matthews added in a separate interview with Rolling Stone that he is trying to work on something that will not make the new album sound very much "like the past."
