Ben McKenzie, like fans, is excited to see "Gotham" season 2 episodes rolling. He feels the new season will be much better than the first one. Why?
This is because they finally figured out what they did wrong last year. The lead "Gotham" cast said what they did wrong has something to do with the villains.
"I think we made a mistake relatively early on in trying to introduce a villain and take care of that villain in one episode: catch them, send them to Arkham, do whatever," McKenzie said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "That was just a mistake. We should've never done it."
The 36-year old actor also pointed to the long breaks they had that shook people's interest in the show. He, however, did not clear whether "Gotham" season 2 episodes will undergo such long breaks.
"We were ordered for 16 [episodes]. We were going to have one break and come back and finish the rest of them in terms of the airing, and then we added six more, so we had to break again and then we had to come back again," he said. "And it's hard for the audience to follow that many changes in a series in terms of when it's airing and when it's not."
"Gotham" season 2 episodes will also be filled with villains. In fact, the Fox superhero TV series has already booked several actors for different villainous roles, iconic Batman roles that is. McKenzie said these villains will be explored more unlike the first season. This approach will make "Gotham" season 2 episodes kick ass as a whole.
"The audience really wants to understand who these people are and live with them, sit with them and enjoy them. Whether they're evil or good, they are entertaining. So that's what we're doing in season 2. [It's] real."
"Gotham" season 2 episodes will start rolling on September 21.
