San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard has huge hands that have already held one Finals MVP trophy, Defensive Player of the Year award, and multi-million dollar contract.
There is more things he is sure can fit in those hands - NBA season MVP and an All-Star Game slot.
Kawhi Leonard is gearing up for a bigger season. While his team has bulked up with addition of two serviceable big men, Kawhi, too, wants to take his game a level higher by producing scorching individual performances.
He does not just want to win prestigious individual awards, he also wants to become one of the greatest ever to play the game.
"I want to to be an (NBA) all-star and MVP of the regular season," said Leonard as per report by Press-Enterprise. "I'm trying to be one of the greatest players so whatever level that consists of is where I want to take my game."
The 24-year old is just in his fourth year and it is definitely a tall task to win the season MVP. Not only because the competition is tight but because his team relies more on team plays than individual brilliance.
However, with the way he climbed the ranks, nothing is possible. Before expressing his intention to win the NBA season MVP award, the San Antonio Spurs star talked about the struggles he went through en route to his way to the world's biggest basketball league.
Kawhi Leonard wants his story to serve as inspiration to those who are dreaming to be successful in the NBA.
"I want the kids to know that it's not a myth that somebody from their city plays and wins in the NBA," he said. "I just want to influence them to work hard and do whatever they want to do in life, whether it's to be a basketball player or scientist ... if they believe in themselves they can do anything. That's why I have this camp."
