There were reports that Zayn Malik is eyeing Selena Gomez now that he has split up from Perrie Edwards.
However, he may have followed the 23-year-old singer on Twitter just to get back at his ex-girlfriend who showed her support on Justin Bieber.
During an interview with BBC, the "I Want You To Know" hitmaker finally shared her thoughts regarding the former One Direction being one of her Twitter followers.
"I had no idea what that was until somebody else asked me," Selena said as reported by Mirror.
"Obviously I know Zayn, though, so it's not like a weird thing. I just didn't know who followed me," she continued. "Thanks for the follow, Zayn!"
The 22-year-old British singer is single again so fans are hoping that he'll finally make a move on Selena Gomez. But many people are wondering if he has a chance with the actress.
In a separate interview with Key 3 radio, Justin Bieber's former lover tried to encourage Zayn Malik to get in touch with her.
"I know Zayn so it's almost like if he would ever want to reach out, he knows that he could," Selena said as reported by Unreality TV.
The brunette beauty also shared her thoughts about the Zayn's decision of leaving One Direction.
"I think that's so exciting for him to go and figure out what he wants to do, but I don't know what that is," Selena admitted. "I think it'll be pretty exciting but, yes, I love him, he's awesome."
While Sel gives Zayn hope, her ex-boyfriend seems to care less that Perrie Edward's former fiancé is getting linked to her.
Maybe he has his eyes set on someone else. A few weeks ago, Justin was spotted in Malibu with his former fling Chantel Jeffries.
According to TMZ, Bieber got behind the lens at the beach where Jeffries was doing a photoshoot for San Lorenzo swimwear and he seems to be enjoying the pictures.
There were reports that Selena Gomez has already moved on from Justin Bieber.
"She has no interest [in dating him]," her pal told PEOPLE. "There's nothing going on with them romantically at all."
This means that Zayn Malik has a chance of dating Selena if he will only reach out to her.
