The Internet blew up when Ed Sheeran and his lion tattoo made an appearance on Instagram last week.

Only halfway done, the massive body ink encompassed his upper chest area and gained mixed reactions from followers and fellow celebrities.

In a previous Franchise Herald report, fans reacted with both excitement and outright disgust for the new art. However, the Grammy nominee wasn't going to let haters rain on his parade.

When Tom Chaplin from Keane called Ed Sheeran's lion tattoo a "really bad picture of a lion," the "Thinking Out Loud" hitmaker couldn't hold his tongue any longer.

"I like it and that's the only opinion that matters," he commented.

He later took to Twitter to express his befuddlement about his new body art.

"All this kerfuffle over a tattoo. If it was black and white saying a clever phrase in a language I can't speak no one would've said anything," he tweeted.

Both of Sheeran's arms are filled with colourful tattoos with random designs. According to Hollywood Life, each design on his body has some significance in his life. He even tattooed a Heinz ketchup bottle on his arm to signify the start of his 2012 tour in Columbus, Ohio.

This time, the lion represented his successful sold-out concerts at the Wembley Stadium.

There wasn't much fanfare about his other tattoos before but this new one suddenly drew the attention of Sheerios all over the world.

"It's not the first weird tattoo I've got and it won't be the last, but I like all of them," he noted, adding that he's "also eating a bowl of pasta now so byeziez ."

Then again, fans might be a bit more accepting of Ed Sheeran's lion tattoo if they know what his first choice was.

"Originally I was going to get the floor plan tattooed on my side, but that seemed a bit ridiculous," he reportedly told the BBC. He had the lion inked on him to signify the England football team's logo instead.
