While Lionsgate has yet to reveal the cast for "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot, new found director Dean Israelite has shared his thoughts about the upcoming movie.
In an interview with IGN, Israelite claimed that the reboot is already in "soft pre-production" and it will feature a more "mature but still playful" take on teenage crime fighting superheroes.
"I read the script and was really surprised by it and thought there was a really cool, contemporary, mature but still playful, buoyant and fun take on the material, and was updated in a really interesting way," Israelite explained.
Adding, "It had this wonderful character that's essential to going on a fantastic adventure. I was instantly drawn to it. "
"I remember it as a kid," he said. "I grew up with it in South Africa. When I opened the script I had no idea how it was going to be updated, and I was really impressed by it."
Furthermore, Umberto Gonzalez, founder of Heroic Hollywood shared that the reboot will most likely going to be connected with the original film.
According to Gonzalez, the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot will begin in the cretaceaous period on Earth.
The era when Zordon-the original Red Ranger- and his team of Power Rangers first defeated Rita Repulsa.
65 million years later into the future at Angel's Grove, Calif. 16-year-old Jason will be introduced in the film as he works in Hart Automotive.
Zack, who is an athlete will be the next one to be introduced while, Kimberly who is romantically involved with Jason will be seen next at Hart Automotive.
Billy and Trini are going to be the last members of the Power Rangers to be introduced.
Apparently, Jason and Billy, who will be the new leaders of the team will eventually discover five power coins while investigating a T-Rex fossil back at a military base.
While no further details as to who will play the highly coveted role of the Power Rangers have been announced, Movie Pilot has already made its suggestion.
Morgan Freeman could be Zordon whereas Lena Headey could be Rita Repulsa; Emma Watson as Kimberly Hart; Freddie Highmore as Billy Cranston; Malese Jow as Trini Kwan; Ray Fischer as Zack Taylor; Jack O'Connell as Jason Lee Scott; and Luke Pasqualino as Tommy Oliver.
