It's no secret how huge of a success "Jurassic World" was when it was released last month.
Together with the new dinosaurs, Universal Pictures is reportedly working already with a sequel.
Following the events of director Colin Trevorrow's film, starring Chris Pratt, the a new update about the sequel's development has been revealed.
Apparently, the terrifying dinosaurs are no longer caged in Isla Nublar as they will now travel other parts of the world.
"[It will not be] just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island," the director revealed in an interview withWired. "That'll get old real fast. I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment."
And while the dinosaurs merely served as an attraction to the theme park in the "Jurassic" franchise, the sequel to "Jurassic World" will reportedly feature a more interesting take to the extinct creatures.
According to director Trevorrow, the next film will involved some kind of weaponry in relation to the dinosaurs.
While these details have yet to be officially announced, the events that took place in "Jurassic World" is a clear indication that involving dinosaurs in war is not far fetched.
"And when you look back at nuclear power and how that started, the first instinct was to weaponize it and later on we found it could be used for energy," Trevorrow continued saying referring to a possible "Jurassic World" sequel plot.
"And this isn't something necessarily that was in the book but is a seed that I wanted to plant in this movie [and] might be able to grow in more of these movies if they decide to make more of them, is: What if this went open source? It's almost like InGen is Mac, but what if PC gets their hands on it? What if there are 15 different entities around the world who can make a dinosaur? And Dr Wu says in the film, when he's warning Dr Mesrani, 'We're not always going to be the only ones who can make a dinosaur'. I think that's an interesting idea that even if we don't explore fully in this film, there is room for this universe to expand."
And with the sequel lined up for the "Jurassic" franchise, Trevorrow took time to clarify that Universal is not trying to build a Universe like that of Marvel's superheroes.
"I shouldn't use the word 'universe,' because people will think we're making a Jurassic World universe - we're not."
And while he did not shed light on his return, Trevorrow explained that it is still his duty to "set the table" for the "Jurassic World" sequel.
"Whether or not I am involved in later installments, I felt it was important for me to set the table. I know they're going to want to make them, I know that Steven definitely wants to make several of these movies, and I want to do my job in setting the table for something that can be rich and thoughtful and interesting."
"Jurassic World" sequel is confirmed for release on June 22, 2018.
