Meizu announced "brand launch" in India on August 26.
Chinese phone manufacturers are slowly entering one of the world's largest smartphone market. Meizu confirmed on its Facebook page that the company will be holding an event in New Delhi, but did not mention what will it be launching, Business Standard reported.
In an interview with Gizbot, Tim Zhong, overseas sales and marketing head for Meizu said that the event will be a "brand launch" and details about the product will be discussed at the event.
It is expected that the Meizu MX5 might finally land in India as the Chinese based phone manufacturer is in stiff competition against OnePlus and Xiaomi, mainly because of their affordable prices yet high-end features, Gizbot added.
The Meizu MX5 is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz and it is being paired with 3GB RAM and onboard variant storare of 16GB and 32Gb, 64GB which can be expanded through a microSD card.
It sports a a 5.5-inch, 1080x1920 pixels AMOLED display with 401 ppi, and layered with Corning Gorilla glass 3 for scratch protection. Camera-wise, the MX5 is armed with a 20.7MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.
Also, like the recently released Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime, the MX5 runs on Meizu's very on Android Lollipop 5.1 based FlymeOS UI, while other feature include fingerprint reader, quick charge option and m Pay Wallet service support in China.
On the other hand, Meizu MX5 successor is rumored to be on the works as live images of the upcoming flagship have surfaced online, GSM Arena reported.
It is rumored to be named as Meizu MX5 Pro which might sport a larger screen display with QHD resolution, and will powered by Samsung's Exynos 7420pired with a, 4GB of RAM, the tech site added.
