Some people might think that seeing a real-life replica of oneself might be a bit disconcerting but Sam Smith's wax figure at Madame Tussaud's didn't seem to bother him at all. In fact, it looks like he liked statue-Sam enough to give it a good lick on the cheek.
Billboard found Smith's enthusiasm of his wax likeness last Monday "sorta disturbing" but admitted that the Grammy winner's bubbling excitement that day was "inherently goofy."
He rejoiced at the chance to finally look up his nose, which he obviously couldn't do before. He also told fans to "feel free to touch my wax bum!"
Rejoicing at the unique experience, he promptly spammed his Instagram followers with photos of his visit at the museum. He not only took selfies of his own statue but he also posed with his "new boyf" Leonardo DiCaprio, had breakfast at Tifanny's with Audrey Hepburn and goofed around with ET, among others.
"Possibly the most surrealist experience of my life..." one photo of Sam Smith giving his wax figure a kiss was captioned.
"Sorry for so many pics this is just so sick!!!!" he said in another snap.
Madam Tassuad's wax museum recently unveiled several statues of famous celebrities recently, including Nicki Minaj, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Ed Sheeran.
The "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch photobombed his own wax figure at the BBC's Graham Norton Show, while Ed Sheeran noticed his alter ego's "impressive bulge."
Later that week, a homophobic hater (who even used one of the singer's wax figure photos) put a slight damper on the 23-year-old singer's excitement.
"This genuinely doesn't offend me, coz I'm way too tick skinned when it comes to this kind of sh-," he posted along with a screenshot of the anti's profile. "BUT I just wanted to share this with everyone, so you can see how homophobia is still SO PRESENT in our society!!"
