Marvel and Sony announced last June that Tom Holland will be the new Spider-Man and some people were left asking who he is since he wasn't a fan favorite unlike Dylan O'Brien and Asa Butterfield.
However, the studios explained why they chose the British newcomer.
"Sony, Marvel, Kevin and I all knew that for Peter Parker, we had to find a vibrant, talented young actor capable of embodying one of the most well-known characters in the world," Amy Pascal said. "With Tom, we've found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man's story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe."
Now the question is if Tom Holland can pull of the role just like Andrew Garfield did in "The Amazing Spider-Man" film series.
During an interview with ET, the former Peter Parker was asked what his thoughts are regarding the 19-year-old actor being casted as the web-slinging superhero in the reboot.
"It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor. He was in this movie 'The Impossible' and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor," Garfield said. "And [he's] a dancer, so his body's the right [form]," Garfield added.
Apart from acting, Tom Holland is also known for his dancing skills which was seen in "Billy Elliot the Musical" at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London.
His flexibility and timing would make it easier for him to pull off the stunts in the "Spider-Man" reboot.
Andrew Garfield also revealed how he felt about not wearing the Spider-Man suit anymore.
"I'm just really excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it," the 31-year-old actor said. Aside from Emma Stone's boyfriend, Tom Holland also got the support of Stan Lee, who was the creator of the popular Marvel Comic Book.
"He's good to me! I can't see anything wrong with him," Lee told ET Online. "I don't know him intimately. In fact, I've never seen him [onscreen], but if [Marvel] picked him, I'm sure he's good!" the 92-year-old legendary comic book writer added.
