It seems like a "Terminator Genisys" sequel is really happening.
While Arnold Schwarzenegger's cyborg-themed movie franchise did not do so well in the box office, Screen Rant confirmed that a sequel is well on its way.
And while details to the said sequel have yet to be discussed, the "Terminator Genisys" sequel is reportedly going to hit theaters in 2017.
And in an interview with Screenrant, Jai Courtney, who played the role of Kyle Reese, shared possible details about his character.
Apparently, the hero who successfully saved Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) in "Terminator Genysis" might just end up being a bad guy in the upcoming sequel.
"I would normally kind of dance around that, but when you can be sort of unforgivingly nasty, it's fun," he said about being a villain in an interview with Screenrant . "It's tougher to play a good guy."
While he did not specifically reveal that he's becoming a villain in the sequel, fans have immediately took his statement as a hint.
Meanwhile, Courtney insisted that he's yet to learn the sequel's plot when asked during the interview.
"I don't know," he said. "Look. That stuff's a long way away. I know there are people who know exactly where they want this to go from a narrative point of view."
"But yeah, look," he added. "Who knows? We'll wait and see. And if we're back doing this soon, then I'll be stoked."
"I think the nods to the early movies," Courtney continued. "There's some cheeky little recreations, like shot for shot stuff of a couple little sequences which I think fans will get a kick out of."
He did however managed to shared things that fans could expect in the upcoming "Terminator Genisys" sequel
"Also, the way we kind of destroy everything that they know about it at the same time and that's the direction we're taking it in," he also said.
"There's choices that, perhaps, are sacrilege within this, but I think it provides potential for really sort of juicy plot from this point on," the actor concluded.
In addition to Courtney's statements, the ending of "Terminatory Genisys" has reportedly hinted a possible sequel.
"Terminator Genisys," director Aaron Taylor also previously discussed the possibility of a new trilogy.
"It was always there as a kind of gateway - to further developments it's precisely a kind of, 'it's not over yet' moment. On the one hand, it's one of the things that points to there being further chapters. On the other hand, this is a kind of franchise where I don't think anybody really believes that you're going to end up neatly or happily. So, when our heroes drive off into the sunset and we think, well that went well. There's still going to be a nagging feeling that wait, it's not that easy."
