While details to the upcoming movie "Star Trek 3" have been relatively scarce, the media seemed to have its way of getting information out in the public.
Screen writer and star, Simon Pegg finally weighs in on such spoilers news as he talks to Associated Press, according to IB Times.
While he did share details about the movie abou to be titled "Star Trek Beyond," Pegg was very keen on what details to share.
Since the movie will be released during the franchise's 50th anniversary celebration, Pegg said that, "It's going to be spectacular, but we're going to underpin that with some genuine 50th Anniversary ideas about what's happening in our world and theStar Trek world and try to make it a bit thoughtful too."
Furthermore, the 45-year-old British comedian said that while he tries his best not to reveal any spoilers about the movies he's working on like "Star Wars" and "Star Trek," the media outlets are being "a little selfish" on spreading such spoilers.
"It is difficult because you want to sing it to the world. I've had a picture on my phone of me hugging Chewbacca that I'd been holding on to for months that I haven't been able to show anybody. But these days there's a culture of spoiler-ism that exists because people want to get their websites traffic... it's a little selfish."
Pegg then asked everyone to just patiently wait until the movie arrives instead of giving out details that are not supposed to be shared in public.
"You're essentially destroying that very thing by increments," Pegg said, "If you're going to go see Star Wars, don't watch the trailers. Just wait. Be patient. Sit in that movie house and let it all be a surprise. That's the best way to watch a movie."
And as the movie progress, Pegg revealed in an interview with Den of Geek that they had to write the script from scratch and they did not rely on what previous script writer Roberto Orci's work.
"We went back to the drawing board", he explained. "We had creative meetings with [director] Justin Lin, and there were things he wanted in there. I haven't written like this before... You're given a bunch of stuff... so Doug and I go, 'Okay, right, let's try and get that into it'. So it's an interesting process".
Moreover, Simon Pegg confessed that while she believes in the success of "Into Darkness" he also thinks that there are issues needed to be addressed in "Star Trek 3."
"I had certain issues with Into Darkness," he said. "I really, really am very proud of Into Darkness, but I feel like it kind of wanted to embrace itself a little too much, rather than take off and do what Star Trek did, which is to go off into the depths of the galaxy. It was about referencing not only a previous film but also kind of hanging onto the coast of Earth a little bit. So for me it's now about the spirit of adventure and exploration and also, in modern terms, just how would that be for people, to be away for that amount of time and that kind of stuff. We're trying to evolve the story at the same time as not letting it go."
