Verizon confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are now receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update.
The update brings Stagefright Exploit fix to these devices, and brings additional features such as the use of Caller Name ID when Advanced Calling is enabled which allows users to identify callers and "gives the user the ability to screen calls," Phone Arena reported.
"One of the key elements of Verizon's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Android 5.1.1 updates is a fix for the Stagefright vulnerability that's gotten a lot of press over the past few weeks and one that caused Samsung (and Google) to reevaluate how they approach security updates. Going forward, Galaxy devices (and Nexus devices) should get more frequent security updates," Gottabemobile wrote.
There is also an option to off the parallax "Wallpaper motion effect" and there are a wide range of added wallpapers for user's lock screen wallpaper.
Aside from the Samsung Galaxy S6 series, Verizon also rolls out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 which addresses the same Stagefright Exploit fix .
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 receives reactivation lock feature which disables factory reset until its user signs into the Samsung Galaxy app; new themes with "recent apps page" and Floating Action buttons has been added to it lock screen.
Users must note that they must be connected on a Wi-Fi connection and have at least 50% remaining battery capacity when updating their devices.
Phone Arena added that Verizon rolls out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to these three devices in a "staggered basis", so some users may receive the update later than the others.
Meanwhile, unlike Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, some devices like the LG G series might skip the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update and jump straight to Android M, Neurogadget reported.
