Zac Efron's new movie will bring major 90's memories as he joins Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the film remake of hit TV series, "Baywatch."
Can you say #Throwback?
Zac Efron, whose movies almost always had scenes wherein he had to take his shirt off, showing his six pack abs and tight biceps, would perfectly fit the role of a life guard.
The news of Zac Efron joining the film was also announced by Johnson via Twitter.
"BIG NEWS: Welcoming my dude @ZacEfron to #BAYWATCH. Our movie will be big, fun and RATED R.. Like me when I drink," Johnson wrote.
Rated R... Zac Efron... It is any "High School Musical" fan girl's dream.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Efron will be playing the role of a "young rule-flouting hothead" of a lifeguard, alongside Johnson's character who aims to save their beach from environmentally-destructive activities brought on by a rich business giant.
Meanwhile, in another interview, Efron revealed that the new "Baywatch" movie is nothing like the 90's hit TV series.
"I don't think it's going to be much like the old Baywatch to be honest," Efron told Reuters. "I think we're going to kind of reinvent it in a big way, and he [Johnson] has big plans for it. I know he's very ambitious."
After filming with Anna Kendrick and Adam Devine for "Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates," Efron is set to get together with the "Baywatch" cast on set for production, sometime in February next year.
The upcoming "Baywatch" movie will reportedly be produced by Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman. The screenplay is reportedly drafted by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon. Meanwhile, Seth Gordon (director of 'Horrible Bosses) will be directing the said film.
Aside from "Baywatch" the actor has a lot of films lined up this year and in 2016. Zac Efron's newest movie, "We Are Your Friends" follows the story of a DJ aspiring to make it big in the Los Angeles electronic dance music (EDM) scene.
