The new trailer for "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" is out and gives a glimpse of its gameplay.
In the trailer it revealed "Faith's perspective as she jumps across rooftops, ascends buildings, runs along walls, and more, while interspersing short, story-based cutscenes that relate to the mission at hand.," Game Ranx reported.
It was first rumored that the game will be a sequel to the first-person parkour game launched in 2008, but design director Erik Oeldahl slammed this rumor and made it clear at the Gamescon 2015 that it is "reboot" which tells "Faith's origin story," iDigital Times added.
""Mirror's Edge Catalyst" is a reboot. We basically took the things we really liked about the first game. Faith, first and foremost, the first-person free-running gameplay, and also the aesthetics, which we've built on, of course," design director Erik Oeldahl said to IGN.
"But it's a reboot. We're telling Faith's origin story, so the events of the first game actually don't really exist. Maybe they will at one time in the future."
In addition to its gameplay, SoftPedia reported that the game is set in Glass City "far to the south of Cascadia Prime and is one of the hubs which Silvine Systems is using to spread the digital revolution, as well as a hub for entertainment and shopping."
"With its mix of peculiar SSSC influences, relaxed beach-resort attitude and highly educated and discerning citizenry, Glass remains an attractive location all year round. The night-life is vibrant, the restaurants specialize in exotic sea-food and the shopping is on par with what one can find in Cascadia Prime," DICE explained further.
The game developers went on that some historical events like the Years of Unrest, the Agglomerate Wars, the OmniStat period, and the terrorist events of FY34 were included on the storyline, but did not elaborated details how these events are linked to Faith.
"Glass was placed under control of CC Corp, with CC Corp Chairman Horton Byson promising to turn the area into "The Gem of The South"," Gameranx added.
"Mirror's Edge Catalyst" is slated for Feb. 23 release for Windows, PS4 and Xbox One.
