Ed Sheeran has always spotted tattoos all over his body but it looks like his fans aren't quite keen on his latest artwork.
The "Thinking Out Loud" hitmaker showed off the massive lion tattoo on his chest last Tuesday on Instagram and it has been garnering some mixed reactions from the musician's 4.6 million followers.
"Halfway and ouch," the British acoustic star captioned the shot, which featured an impressive drawing of a lion on his bare chest. The outline around the drawing seems to indicate that the body ink would encompass his entire chest.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the new tattoo was in celebration of his sell-out shows at London's Wembley Arena.
"Originally I was going to get the floor plan tattooed on my side, but that seemed a bit ridiculous," he reportedly told the BBC.
Several of his fans, however, aren't as keen on it as he was despite the photo already having more than 30,000 comments and almost 500,000 likes on Instagram.
"[Beautiful] lion, but it would look better on a piece of paper," one follower commented, while another reminded him that tattoos were permanent.
"He's going cray," another fan said as someone else called it weird.
Others were more supportive, calling Ed Sheeran's tattoo "so cool" and "amazing."
One fan cleverly linked it to Harry Potter, commenting, "ah, another Weasley! I know just what to do with you... GRYFFINDOR!!! ;)."
Amidst the uproar, Sheeran defended the new ink on Twitter.
"I like it and that's the only opinion that matters," he responded when Keane's Tom Chaplin said it was a "really bad picture of a lion."
The "Photograph" singer isn't the only celebrity with body ink that fans questioned. Fellow Brit star Cheryl Fernandez-Versini had her whole lower back and buttocks covered with roses. It reportedly took eight months to finish.
Jennifer Lawrence also has a water chemical symbol tattoo on her right hand but the "2" actually wasn't on the right place.
