Soon after Konami announced that "Silent Hills" is no longer moving forward, fans launched a petition campaign for the game to push through.
In efforts to convince game creator, Hideo Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro, fans have expressed their willingness to launch a crowdfunding campaign for "Silent Hills."
Read the petition posted at Change.org below:
"Dear Hideo and Guillermo,
hearing the cancellation of one of the most anticipated horror games is about the most heartbreaking thing horror fans had to swallow this year.
Since the first sight of the P.T Demo it was instant love, and it burned into the minds of everyone that this had to release at some point.
Although the reasons are not yet announced I am begging you along with countless others: Please continue the Development on Silent Hills, if the issue is money related, we would love to see a Crowdfunding campaign like Kickstarter to ensure you are getting all the financial help there is! We´d love to see it happen at some point and want to thank you for all the great games you have released so far!
Greetings
-Yauheni "
While Hideo Kojima remained silent, director Guillermo del Toro previously expressed his support to the said petition in an interview with IGN.
"Norman [Reedus, the Walking Dead actor who was attached to play the lead role] was super happy, Hideo was super happy, and so was I," he said their feelings about the game prior its cancellation. "I know there's a petition going on the internet and it's gathering signatures. I would add my signature to it, and hope that someone pays attention."
Del Toro's statement immediatedly fired fans' hopes that "Silent Hills" petition could actually pave way for the game to hit the shelves.
However, in a recent interview with IGN, the award winning director seemed to have accepted defeat by revealing that while he is working with Hideo Kojima, it does not involve any "Silent Hills" game.
"I love working with Kojima-san," Del Toro explained. "We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that's not going to be [Silent Hills]."
