‘Sherlock’ Star Benedict Cumberbatch Says It’s ‘Mortifying’ Getting Filmed During ‘Hamlet’ In [VIDEO]

Preview performances for "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch in Shakespeare's "Hamlet" started last Aug. 5 and it looks like the production is already facing some difficulties.

Fans - or "Cumberb-s" as they like to be called - from all over the world flew into London to witness their idol take on the tragic Danish prince and there are still millions of others who couldn't purchase a ticket for any of the play's dates.

To commemorate the time they saw "The Imitation Game" star performing live, some fans have apparently been filming the actor during his scenes on the Barbican stage.

This definitely did not sit well with the man of the hour. Instead of just shrugging the issue off and allowing the theater to handle it, however, the 38-year-old actor stepped out of the theater last Saturday to reprimand his avid followers from taking out their cameras to film him onstage.

CNN reported that "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch admitted that it had been "a hell of week" with "one d*mn thing after another" happening throughout the week.

"I can see cameras. I can see red lights in the auditorium, and it may not be any of you here that did that but it's blindingly obvious like that one there, that little red light, it's very very obvious," he said in an amateur video taken after the play last Saturday.

"I could see a red light in about the third row on the right, it's mortifying," he added, "and there's nothing less supportive or enjoyable as an actor (than) being on stage experiencing that."

According to Reuters, the performance that Saturday experienced technicalities, forcing the "12 Years A Slave" actor to redo his opening lines.

"It's not the easiest place to begin a play full stop, but for the second time even harder," he continued in the video, pertaining to that night's mistakes.

He also warned fans that anyone sneakily filming in future dates be "detected and evicted" from the play.

He had been apparently so frustrated that night that, according to The Daily Mail, he dropped the f-bomb when a carpet jammed in a trap door in one scene. Nevertheless, "Hamlet" has reportedly been a hit for theater-goers.
