'Godzilla 2' Monsters Will Be 'Bigger And 'Better' - More Details About The Sequel Revealed

| By

Following Legendary Pictures' confirmation that "Godzilla 2" is happening, fans started to ask about details about the sequel.

While new monsters, Rodan, Ghidora and Mothra were previously revealed during last year's Comic-Con, there are rumblings that "Godzilla 2" will also feature Mechagodzilla.

Screenwriter Max Borenstein did not say anything about Mechagodzilla rumors, but he did claim that "Godzilla 2" monsters will most certainly be "bigger" and "better."

In an interview with Collider's Christina Radish, Borenstein revealed that he is now writing the script for the sequel that is scheduled to be release on June 8, 2018.

"I'm writing it now, and it's really going to be great," Borenstein said of the sequel's progress. "I don't want to go off book and tell you anything that I'm not allowed to tell you. The response to the first film was really exciting, but now that that world is established, we can do bigger and even better things. We're really stoked."

And while director Gareth Edwards is still busy in filming "Star Wars," Borenstein confirmed that the helmer is definitely coming back to direct "Godzilla 2" and he is very ecxcited about it.

"Yeah, I hope," Borenstein said when asked if he is still collaborating with Edwards. "He's making Star Wars right now, so he's a little preoccupied, but yeah. Gareth is amazing. It's exciting to get to work with him again. One of the fun things about that experience is the same fun that it's been on [Minority Report], where you really get to have your fingers in the pie.

In line with "Godzilla 2" the upcoming monsters, there have also been reports claiming that original cast member Aaron Taylor-Johnson is going to reprise his role in the sequel.

Talking to Cinema Blend, "Godzilla" star Aaron Taylor-Johnson candidly shared his knowledge of the movie.

"Our director, Gareth Edwards, is off shooting a 'Star Wars' movie now, so I think, you know, and he was a huge influence on the franchise," the 25-year-old English star who recently played Quicksilver in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" explained.

"So I think they're waiting on Gareth, and then when Gareth gets around, they will all jump in a room, brainstorm, and do their thing. And I don't know if I'd be a part of it, if it would be set somewhere else, if it's going to be in the future. ... It's just kind of, it's just so broad."
