AT&T is offering a $500 credit per line to DirecTV and U-verse TV customers to switch to At&T's wireless service, according to a press release issued by AT&T.
Customers will get a $300 bill credit for each line they ported with a smartphone purchased at AT&T Next.
In addition, customers will also get a $200 trade-in credit or promotional card for trading in eligible smartphones, the company said in the press release.
AT&T also offers a bonus of 10,000 Plenti points, that can be used at participating partners, for customers who combine their DirecTV or U-verse TV and AT&T wireless services bills into one single monthly bill.
David Christopher, chief marketing officer of AT&T Mobility, said in the press release that this is another way for them to make it better for consumers who choose TV and wireless services from AT&T.
"This is a unique offer and unlike anything we've ever done - all to celebrate DIRECTV now being part of the AT&T family," he said.
Customers who avail of the single monthly bill for AT&T TV and eligible AT&T wireless services are also eligible for a $10 per month combined bill discount, according to the press release.
Customers can enjoy the discount as long as they keep both services under one bill.
Both consumer and business customers of AT&T are eligible for the $500 per wireless line credit offer, according to the press release.
Fox Business added that AT&T's new plan follows Verizon's decision to scrap its phone subsidies and two-year contracts amid an intense competition for mobile subscribers.
Verizon's changes were announced last Friday.
Fox Business added that under the new plan, Verizon will eliminate service contracts. In exchange for this, customers who purchased a smartphone now need to pay in full under a monthly payment plan.
The new structure will also allow customers to upgrade their smartphones and seek a trade-in credit as soon as they pay off their old device.
The $500 credit offer of AT&T will be available for a limited time only, according to the press release.
