Denise Richards is mourning the death of her beloved French bulldog, Hank, who passed away on Tuesday night.
"Last night we lost our beloved Hank," Richards, 41, wrote on Twitter, sharing an Instagram shot of the pooch. "I will miss him dearly," she added, "... been there for me through it all."
Fans quickly shared their condolences, and Richards tweeted, "Thank you so much for your kind messages about Hank . . . it means a lot to me. You guys are the best . . . so thoughtful and kind."
Most recently, Richards led by example and helped a Long Island shelter inundated with extra animals needing homes in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
The ex-wife of actor Charlie Sheen, who has three daughters, Sam, Lola and Eloise, has a large family of rescue cats and dogs.
Richards also visited a North Shore Animal League America shelter in Long Island, New York on in November to encourage adoptions and help with relief operations. To practice what she preaches, Richards also adopted a female black Labrador mix puppy named Lily.
Richards has always been vocal about her love and passion for animals.
