President George W. Bush truck was auctioned off for $300,000 on Saturday and the proceeds will be used to benefit the Fisher House Foundation, a charity that serves U.S. military families, MSN reported.
The 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch 4x4 SuperCrew was sold as part of the Barrett-Jackson auction house's sale of collectible cars in Scottsdale, Arizona.
George W. Bush purchased the truck new in Tucson, Arizona, shortly after leaving the White house. The auction listing provided by Barrett-Jackson did not mention how many miles were on the truck but the number is likely very low because the truck has exclusively been driven on the former president's Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas.
"I haven't driven on a street in many, many years, but I have been able to drive this truck on my ranch," Bush said in a statement.
The auction house did not disclose the identity of the buyer.
Proceeds from the sale benefit the Fisher House Foundation, a charity that provides free housing for families of military service members who are receiving medical treatment.
Before it went up for auction, the president autographed the right airbag panel on the truck. As an added bonus, the buyer received a video showing Bush signing the panel and driving the truck around his ranch.
Jay Leno auctioned off the truck at the event on Saturday night.
