Looks like there is no stopping Lee Daniels and Danny Strong in beefing up "Empire" season 2 cast.

After a successful first season of their Fox TV series, the duo is now gearing up for a bigger second season and they are doing that by casting big names in music and entertainment industry.

None will probably be bigger than the latest one Lee Daniels revealed as part of "Empire" season 2 cast.

Lee Daniels revealed Maria Carey will guest star in "Empire". He confirmed this while with Maria during a ceremony for the unveiling of the latter's star in Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"Watch her on 'Empire' you guys. She's coming on 'Empire,'" said Daniels during the event.

"Empire" season 2 cast is pretty much loaded with big stars. Among those who are confirmed to appear in the show are Alicia Keys, Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Common, Oprah Winfrey, and Pitbull who will all play as themselves.

Also enlisted to join "Empire" season 2 cast are Marissa Tomei who will play Mimi Whiteman, Adam Rodriguez as Laz Delgado, Kelly Rowland as Lucius' mother (flashback, of course), Andre Royo as Thirst Rawlings, Siya as Betty Barz, and Zendaya as Laura.

As for Mariah Carey, there is no detail yet who she will play as part of "Empire" season 2 cast.

"Empire" season 2 premiere episode will pick up months after the events in first season's finale. Terrence Howard's Lucius Lyon is in jail and she gets a visit from ex wife Cookie (Taraji P. Henson).

Over at his company Empire Entertainment, a full blown chaos is about to unfold as his sons Hakeem and Andre are targeting their brother Jamal who is currently manning the company. According to recent reports, "Empire" season 2 will be like a war between kingdoms of music.

"Empire" season 2 premiere is on Sept. 23.
