A conservation group will be erecting a Cecil the lion bronze statue as a commemoration for the slain beloved feline, according to the BBC.
The Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force announced its intention to build a life-size replica of the tragically killed cat at the Hwange National Park, where he and his pride lived in.
The group's Facebook page said that the "Statue of Cecil" "will be an excellent reminder to all who visit the park of where Cecil the Lion used to live."
While the total cost of the project hasn't been finalized yet, Cheryl Rodrigues from the task force, told BBC that several people already pledged their donations for the cause.
"Cecil was such an icon and it's created such a fuss everywhere we thought it would be nice to do it," she added.
Meanwhile, John Binda, a metal sculptor with 24 years of experience was asked to create Cecil the lion's statue and he couldn't be more dumbstruck.
He intimated that he was "a little bit thunderstruck" and also feels "a hell of a lot of pressure." Although he feels strongly for what happened, he promised to "be detached from the emotion and get on with the job."
Meanwhile, the conservation group's chairman, Johnny Rodriguez, also wanted the lion's head be mounted in a glass case and planned to talk to the Zimbabwe Park And Wildlife Authority "once the dust had settled."
"Any tourist should be able to come and see the cause of all this turmoil around the world," he reportedly added to the BBC.
Zimbabwe's beloved big cat was slain by Minnesotan dentist Walter Palmer as a trophy hunt last month. He reportedly paid around $50,000 to shoot and eventually behead the lion, although he did maintain that he had "no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt."
Jimmy Kimmel, after bashing Palmer on national TV, then asked concerned individuals to donate to WildCRU, the Oxford group that tracked and studied the magnificent creature.
Billionaire Tom Kaplan and his wife, Daphne also promised to give more to Oxford Wildlife Conservation Unit.
Which idea do you think will help ban illegal hunting of big games? A real life Cecil the lion bronze statue or his head mounted in a glass wall?
