In 2016, HTC Vive games will get another addition in the form of the "John Wick" VR game.
"'John Wick' is the perfect cross-platform property to extend into the fast-growing gaming world, and we believe that a cutting edge VR game will deepen fan engagement and accelerate John Wick's evolution into one of our next big action franchises," Peter Levin, Lionsgate President of Interactive Ventures & Games said in a statement.
Working on the VR game are development team Grab, distributor WEVR, "Payday" publisher Starbreeze and the film's producer Basil Iwanyk, according to VG247.
"The standalone first-person shooter game is based on the world and characters of the 'John Wick' films, centering around the Continental Hotel."
Moreover, the website reported that Starbreeze will integrate the "John Wick" storyline into "Payday 2."
Given that the team behind the 2014 film starring Keanu Reeves will be working on the game, Android Headlines thinks one of 2016's HTC Vive games "will most likely turn out to be more than loyal to the movie."
But gamers don't need to wait until next year to see what the Vive VR game will be like.
DigitalTrends reported that a preview of the "John Wick" VR game is already being shown off at the on-going HTC Vive World Tour which stops in different locations in the US and Europe.
The website added that a demo will also be available via SteamVR when the Vive rolls out later this year.
With its own VR game coming out and a sequel already underway, DigitalTrends noted how "John Wick" "is already in the process of becoming a multimedia blockbuster franchise."
HTC and Valve's Vive VR headset is due out in late 2015 and is targeting a mid-October reveal. The full "John Wick" VR shooter will be one of the HTC Vive games to watch out for when it will reportedly roll out in Spring 2016.
