"Fantastic Four" recently hit the theaters, but it's not giving fantastic results in the box office.
According to Variety, the Thursday night previews only earned $2.7 million at 2,900 locations. "The Green Hornet" was the last major superhero film that premiered less than $35 million. It reached $33.5 million back in 2011 and that's really close to the mark unlike Josh Trank's latest movie.
The 31-year-old filmmaker suggested that he wasn't responsible for the poor reviews and low earnings of the "Fantastic Four" reboot.
"A year ago I had a fantastic version of this. And it would've received great reviews. You'll probably never see it. That's reality though," he wrote on Twitter but removed it later on. Does he blame Marvel and 20th Century Fox for the mess up?
The remake featured Miles Teller as Mister Fantastic, Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch, Kate Mara as Invisible Woman, and Jamie Bell as Thing.
During an interview with Comic Book, the "Fantastic Four" cast revealed the deleted scene that they thought should be included in the film.
"I had a scene with Kate [Mara] and apparently it's cut! I was really excited about it!" Jamie Bell said. "It was so cute. Apparently not. Apparently it was too cute," the actress replied. "Apparently it was too cute because we're like not the love interest, so..." he added.
"I have no idea what they're talking about," Michael B. Jordan butted in. "You wouldn't because it was a scene between [Jamie and I]!" Mara replied.
"It was a scene where Dr. Storm is at Reed's house trying to tell his parents how talented Reed is and Reed's parents are going like, 'Okay, we don't know what our son is, but okay,'" Bell explained.
"And she's kind of waiting outside and I come to, like, Reed's house, and I'm like, kind of awkward cause she's a girl and I'm like, 'What's going on in there? What are they talking about? Is he gonna be alright? Do I need to take care of this?' But really I played the scene with a superstar, it was kind of fun," he added.
Kate Mara and Jamie Bell revealed that was their first scene together and they had fun doing it but unfortunately they had to cut it.
Based on Marvel Comics, Susan and Reed Richards began to develop a relationship while working together and they ended up getting married and later on had a son named Franklin.
It must be an interesting sight to see Invisible Woman having an awkward moment with the Thing. Maybe that's why the "Fantastic Four" director Josh Trank was disappointed.
