There is only one month left before "Scandal" season 5 premiere episode airs. How much do fans know by now regarding the show's return?
Not much since the internet is pretty much scarce with "Scandal" season 5 spoiler ever since it aired its season four finale last May. Good thing series creator Shonda Rhimes was gracious enough to share some scoop during TCA event this week.
"For Scandal we're picking up almost where we left off," Rhimes said when asked to share details regarding "Scandal" season 5 premiere.
Season four ended with Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Pres. Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) kissing in the balcony of the White House.
Olivia is probably the only one in a comfortable place by the time "Scandal" season 5 premiere airs. Rhimes said other characters are in terrible situation.
"That was a pretty harrowing place where the world had been blown apart for everybody except for Olivia and Fitz, who were left on the Truman balcony ... doing some kissin'. But everybody else was in a fairly low-at-heart place. Mellie wasn't living in the White House because Fitz kicked her out. Jake said he was walking away. Quinn was thinking about killing Huck. Things weren't going so well for people, and we pick up right there in that environment."
Although "Scandal" season 5 premiere will feature Olivia and Fitz back in each other arms, Washington said it is not something she saw coming. She even warned fans to expect the unexpected in the show.
"Both Tony Goldwyn and I both talked about how surprised we were at how it was dealt with or handled - that it wasn't what we expected," she said in a separate interview with ET Online.
"Scandal" season 5 premiere is September 24. Aside from Washington and Goldwyn, the show also stars Katie Lowes, Guillermo Diaz, Bellamy Young, Darby Stanchfield, Jeff Perry, Joshua Malina, and Scott Foley.
