NextCore Corporation has just launched the Noon VR headset which could shake up the lower-end of the virtual reality scene.

Coming out of Seoul, South Korea, the Noon VR can work with a wide range of devices with a 4.7-inch or larger display.

As per the device's website, Samsung's Galaxy line from the S4 to the latest S6 and S6 edge, Motorola's Moto G, the Asus ZenFone 2, Xiaomi's Mi3 and Mi Note and Sony's Xperia Z3 and Z2 are among supported Android handsets. Even Apple's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are compatible as well.

A companion app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play which, according to NextCore, "can [be used] to watch any videos stored in your phone."

As for the Noon VR headset app interface, Tom's Hardware said that the company claimed it as being "the most responsive interface control on the market."

"Head movements, finger tap gestures and even gaze tracking are used to navigate within the app."

But what else can you do with the South Korean VR headset? Apart from viewing content, Wareable reported that NextCore has partnered with virtual reality video distributor Koom VR to "allow users to create their own VR content."

"Koom VR will also enable users to edit content, finding image defects like stereo-rig misalignment and lens distortion, and correct it automatically," the website said.

Reportedly, there are over 1,000 examples of VR content with the service for users to explore.

The device itself weighs just 230 grams and has a 95-degree field of view which can be adjusted for different eyesight, per its website. An elastic band is said to secure it on the user's head.

The price for the NextCore Noon VR headset? Just $89 with free shipping via Amazon. It competes with the Google Cardboard and the Samsung Gear VR.
