[Watch] ‘The View’ Heats Up As Raven Symone And Candace Cameron Bure Fight Over A ‘Lesbian’ Cake?

| By

"The View" recently got really intense when Raven Symone and Candace Cameron Bure got into a fight over a "lesbian" cake. What?

During the July 7 episode of "The View," Raven Symone and Candace Cameron Bure's different views broke out into a fight while discussing an Oregon bakery's refusal to bake a cake for a lesbian couple's wedding.

The former owners of the "Sweet Cakes by Melissa" bakery, Melissa Klein and Aaron Klein are both devout Christians who did not want to bake a the cake for Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer's wedding ceremony because it is against their religious beliefs.

Former Disney star, Raven Symone, who previously confessed to being in a relationship with another female, saw the issue as a case of discrimination.

"The Oregon law bars businesses from discriminating against sexual orientation, race, disability, age or religion," Symone said, "And to me, it's the same exact thing that they did back in the day saying that black people couldn't do certain things because it's my 'religious belief.'"

On the other hand, "Fuller House" star, Candace Cameron Bure, thought otherwise.

"I don't think this is discrimination at all. This is about freedom of association," she said. "It's about constitutional rights. It's about First Amendment rights. We do have the right to still choose who we associate with."

In the middle of Bure's argument, Symone interrupted her by saying: "I refuse to associate right now,"
Bure continued to point out that the bakery did not refuse to bake the cake because of the lesbian couple's sexual orientation but because of the act same-sex marriage.

"They had a problem with the actual ceremony because that - the ceremony - is what conflicted with their religious beliefs. They are saying that they stand for marriage between a man and a woman."

However, Symone countered Bure's point, saying: "Sexual orientation also goes hand in hand with marriage in that situation."

"If it was a man and a woman and one was black and one was white and they are discriminated against, we could also go back to the constitution," Symone added.

On the other hand, the Oregon Labor Commission recently ordered Melissa Klein and Aaron Klein to pay $135,000 for causing emotional and mental suffering to Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer.
