Are Jessica Alba's "The Honest Company" products causing too much sunburns?
Jessica Alba's "Honest Company" all-natural sunscreen products are in demand among customers - parents who apply them to their kids mostly -- during the summer season, but some customers reportedly claimed that these products are "terrible," even comparing them to the "cheapest stuff" at discount stores.
"I've tried dozens of different sunscreens and words can't come close to describing how terrible this product compares even to the cheapest stuff you find at discount stores," a consumer wrote a review on Amazon.com, as reported by The Washington Post.
Jessica Alba's "The Honest Company" products are said to be effective, safe and eco-friendly, according its official website. The particular product under fire, the Honest sunscreen lotion SPF 30, is marketed as "natural derived, unscented" product using zinc oxide to block the sun's harmful UV rays.
But reportedly opposite from what it is meant for, Jessica Alba's "Honest Company" sunscreen products are allegedly causing severe sunburns even among their children users.
"First, the product applies like a layer of grease - imagine putting melted butter on your skin. Next, the grease doesn't wash off, even with vigorous scrubbing and multiple hand washes," the customer explained as reported.
"Last, and most importantly, the sun protection from this product is about as good as no sunscreen. I was in the sun for less than an hour and my whole family was burnt," the statement added.
Photos of the alleged burns from Jessica Alba's "Honest Company" products were posted on this report by The Washington Post.
Jessica Alba's "The Honest Company" already released a statement regarding complaints on their sunscreen products.
"Protecting our loved ones and yours is the reason we founded The Honest Company. As parents, it pains us to hear that anyone has had a negative experience with our sunscreen," the company said in a statement posted on their website blog.
"We develop and use Honest Sunscreen to protect our own children - Honor, Haven, Luke, Evie and Poppy - at the park, in the pool, outside, every day. As with everything we do, we take sun protection seriously here at Honest," the statement added.
