As fans should know by now, "The Flash" season 2 will get new speedsters. Jay Garrick, world's first superhero to call himself The Flash, will be coming to the CW Network series along with Wally West who in the comics is the first Kid Flash.
Jay Garrick is one of the most important comic book characters and while most fans more than welcomed this "The Flash" season 2 spoiler, others think it is too soon.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said the timing is just right. There is no other instance to bring Jay Garrick in "The Flash" season 2.
"Jay Garrick is obviously integral to the Flash mythology," Kreisberg said during a panel in last month's San Diego Comic-Con. "He was the original Flash and he's never really been portrayed to our knowledge in live action.
"Now that we've established our Flash we thought it was interesting to bring on the original Flash and create a brand new relationship for Barry to have. We're super excited about it."
Danielle Panabaker, who plays Caitlin Snow, said in "The Flash" season 2 spoiler that came out a few weeks ago Jay Garrick, who will be played by Teddy Sears, will be the new mentor of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).
"As the season aims to explore Barry finessing his powers, Jay Garrick's arrival is "going to have an impact on everybody on Team Flash," according to Danielle Panabaker. "He's going to be a very cool mentor to Barry and he's going to help Barry expand his powers and the things that he's capable of doing," Entertainment Weekly wrote when a fan asked for a "The Flash" season 2 spoiler.
Jay Garrick's arrival in the show was foreshadowed in last season's finale after his signature helmet popped out after Barry Allen run through time back to the moment her mother was killed by the yellow light.
"The Flash" season 2 release date is October 6.
