"Da Vinci's Demons" season 3 release date was confirmed on the same day its cancellation was announced. This surely did not sit well with its followers but Starz CEO Chris Albrecht believes it should not be treated a bad news.
"There is no bad news here," Albrecht said of "Da Vinci's Demons" season 3 cancellation in an interview with Deadline.
"The show ran its course. If a show runs for 3 seasons, it doesn't mean it's not a success, especially in the premium space."
In the show's Facebook page, fans did not have the time to celebrate the announcement of "Da Vinci's Demons" season 4 release date.
Some are sad and excited at the same time while others are just plain mad because this is what they got after more than a year of waiting.
"What?! Not only do you make us wait a shitload of time for this third season, you decide to end it all after it? Do you really think this whole story deserves a closure after only TWO seasons of TEN episodes each? Really?!" said Lorenzo Maria Bavarella on show's Facebook.
A petition in Change.org has also been set up by fans to keep "Da Vinci's Demons" longer. The petition is addressed to Albrecht citing the show's growing fan base.
"In 2 seasons, it gathered a large number of wonderful fans, who instantly engaged with the storylines, and who would dearly love to see what happens to their favourite (and not so favourite) characters.
In the current culture of brainless reality shows, audiences need quality drama series such as Da Vinci's Demons, which has a very passionate audience worldwide!"
"Da Vinci's Demons" season 3 release date is October 24. It stars Tom Riley as Leonardo Da Vinci, Laura Haddock as Lucrezia Donati, Blake Ritson as Count Girolamo Riario, Lara Pulver as Clarice Orsini, and Gregg Chillin as Zoroaster de Peretola.
