| By

A small plane crashed into a home in eastern Florida on Friday, setting the house on fire and killing all three people aboard, according to reports.

According to the Huffington Post, the Federal Aviation Administration said the pilot of the small plane, a Beechcraft BE35, reported mechanical problems not too long before the plane tragically crashed into a residence. The plane was en route to Knoxville Downtown Island Airport in Tennessee but it was unclear where the plane was coming from.

Based on the dispatcher's testimony, the pilot said the plane was experiencing extreme shaking, which prompted him to declare an emergency status.

The crash occurred at about 2:10 p.m. in Palm Coast, Fla. Three on board died, a Florida Highway Patrol dispatcher told Knoxville News Sentinel. The house caught on fire but the three who were inside were able to escape. The three on board were not immediately identified.

A middle-aged woman who lived alone in the house dived through a closed window to get out after the plane hit, neighbor Joe McBride, 71, told CNN. The highway patrol said she was taken to the hospital, but they did not have details on her injuries.

"She went right through the glass window," McBride said. "She's banged up, but she's going to be all right."

He added, "She's lucky to be alive because that house is a wreck."
