Despite promoting alongside Marvel actors at the San Deigo Comic Con last July, it seems that Channing Tatum won't be portraying Gambit in the big screen, according to The Wrap.
Who could replace the "Magic Mike" star for the lead role?
Cinema Blend came up with the list of actors that could take on the "X-Men" spinoff. On this interesting list is "Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki.
According to the site, Padalecki was already able "show off cool fighting moves" as Sam Winchester in the CW show. If he should be chosen as the screen version of Remy LeBeau or Gambit, he would also be taking a huge and already established fanbase with him. On the other hand, this would also pose as his introduction to big leagues.
Then again, should he be chosen, the entire production would have to be postponed to accommodate filming for "Supernatural" which Jared Padalecki has been in for a decade now.
Padalecki and his co-stars, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard are currently filming "Supernatural" season 11 which is set to air this October on the CW.
Meanwhile, "Gambit" is supposed to start shooting in October or November. Should the TV star join the production, filming would have to be postponed until December or January of next year.
Padalecki isn't the only possible candidate for the role, however. There's still Taylor Kitsch, who already had experience playing the superhero in question in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." He was also reportedly well-received by fans at that time.
Other actors in Cinema Blend's list include "Hannibal Rising" star Gaspard Ulliel. Being French, it would be easier for him to replicate Gambit's Cajun accent. "Blue Collar" star Matt Bomer and "True Blood" alum Alexander Skarsgard were also mentioned as possible contenders.
Even if "Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki won't get the part, however, avid followers of the actor will still get to see him fighting off demons and other creatures when the hit show returns to the CW this Fall.
