James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will have his hands full in the second season of "Gotham."
The villains from first season mean nothing compared to the ones coming in the show when it returns next month. "Gotham" season 2 spoiler from David Mazouz months ago indicated upcoming villains are ten times worse than Robin Lord Taylor's Oswald Cobblepot who is now the king of the underworld.
It is a well known comics cliché that to get to the hero, it is his/her loved ones villains will go after. In Gordon's case, there are two women in his life that might meet danger.
Gordon is currently with Dr. Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) and in second season she will not be spared by the terror the city brings.
The actor said in a "Gotham" season 2 spoiler that Leslie Thompkins will be put into extreme tests. Baccarin said it herself, too, "Gotham" season 2 will be much harder for her character.
"I think Leslie is left a little bit rattled after her last experience with Barbara," Baccarin said in an interview with TV Overmind.
"But she is a very strong person, and they are survivors. They are just trying to deal with the hand that they were dealt. He is in a bit of a dark spot, and I think throughout the rest of the season it's going to be a little bit of a push into that darkness and see if they can come out surviving. I don't know if 'light' is the right word [when asked if Leslie is basically the light in Jim's darkness]. I mean, she is supportive, but I also thinks she has her own things that she is grappling with. It's a difficult world, the Gotham world."
When pressed for more "Gotham" season 2 spoilers, especially about those things Leslie will grapple with, Baccarin said she does not know yet.
"Well I don't know yet. We only have three scripts, but so far, Jim has been demoted and things are not going so well. We start in a place, in a complicated universe, as Gotham always is. She is struggling with what has happened to her and how to put that behind her, and Barbara, of course, always has a way of coming back!"
"Gotham" season 2 release date is September 21.
