"Banshee" season 4 release date is yet to be announced but the news that fans got is the worst they can think of.
There is no more Lucas Hood adventure after this upcoming season as series creator Jonathan Tropper confirmed the Cinemax show has already been cancelled. Reactions on this news are generally unfavorable.
It is not just fans who lament the cancellation of "Banshee", even the town where the show shoots its scenes. CBS Local reported businesses and residents from Vandergrift in Pennsylvania were saddened by "Banshee" season 4 cancellation with some of them worrying about its probable impact on their economy.
"They've been great to us," said Zach Albert, whose dad owns the store Tees N' Tops that produces memorabilias with designs based on the Cinemax TV series. "They've been great to the community. They've been giving everybody business. I mean, honestly, we're sad to see them go."
"Banshee" season 4 cancellation also means no more interactions between the show's stars and fans and people living in Vandergrift.
"They really like the milkshakes," said Nicole Basile, one of the owners of Sweetlane Chocolate Shop where cast members Tom Riley, Ivana Milicevic and crews often hang out. "When they're in town filming, they all come in to the shop."
"It's been such a bright little thing for our town, and it's going to go away again," said Pete Basile, also an owner of the shop. "We hate to see it go."
"Banshee" season 4 cancellation is something most fans did not see coming given the fact that it is Cinemax's highest rating show. It also fared well among critics. However, series creator Jonathan Tropper explained why the pulled the guns on Cinemax.
"I was determined from the start not to let that happen to Banshee. Banshee's premise, by its very implausible nature, was always one with a somewhat limited shelf life. How long can anyone really pull off being a fake sheriff? We always felt that, under the best of circumstances, the show had a five-season arc. And we could have easily done that fifth season. We had the ratings, we had the fans, we had the passion," Tropper wrote about "Banshee" season 4 cancellation in a piece he wrote for Grantland.
