While the American punk rock band is still very much in awe of their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Green Day is reportedly working on a new album already.
Apparently, Billie Joe Armstrong and the rest of Green Day band members are done with "few songs" that could already be recorded for their new album.
And in addition to a new record, the band is reportedly working on scheduling tours as well. Armstrong confirmed that they already ended their hiatus and are now "just blown away" with their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recognition.
"There's definitely a great spirit going on," Armstrong told Billboard of their new album. "We've always been pretty charged up. Before we found any of this out, I had already written a few songs and everybody was really excited by them. And then we heard about the Hall of Fame, and we were just blown away."
While Green Day's frontman has already confirmed a new album, the band is reportedly not going to release the new album anytime soon or atleast until the trio is sure that there's a great selection of songs for their fans to enjoy.
"Yeah, I mean, we're going to take our time," Armstrong explained. "We're not going to try and pull off some, like, victory lap over this because I definitely want the music to come from a real place and be inspired, not just because we got honored or anything like that, but because we're honoring music. We want to work on them, and we want to make a great album."
Moreover, Armstrong also acknowledged the strong relationship of their band for being able to accomplish such feat in their career.
"Well, even people that would be our contemporaries, a lot of these guys would be in their fifties already. But we started young. This is my high school band, and we just kept going. So there's been a lot of life within the time period that we've been around. We're really fortunate in that way."
