Around a year after relinquishing her Miss USA 2014 title to her successor, Nia Sanchez has been named Taekwondo ambassador in Seoul, South Korea.
Chosun Media recently reported Nia Sanchez's Taekwondo achievement in South Korea when she was hailed a global Taekwondo ambassador by the World Taekwondo Federation.
"I've learned self-confidence and discipline from Taekwondo that I began practicing in my childhood," Nia Sanchez said on her Taekwondo ambassadorship. "I will contribute to share taekwondo with the rest of the world and enhance the reputation of the [federation]. If there is an opportunity, I'd like to learn Taekwondo in Korea."
The report said the federation gave her the new "crown" during the appointment ceremony held in their headquarters in Seoul, which was attended by federation president Cho Jeong-Won.
Nia Sanchez also showed some Taekwondo moves in South Korea according to the photo attached to the report.
In a video feature by YTN News, the Latina beauty is reportedly staying in the Asian nation until this weekend where she is set to attend various Taekwondo-related events and functions.
The Dong-A Ilbo website reported she attended the 2015 World Taekwondo Hanmadang opening ceremony in the Gyeonggi Province on Thursday and is set for departure on Saturday.
Nia Sanchez is a fourth-degree black belt in Taekwondo and a certified instructor of the sports. During the Miss USA 2014 pageant, she shared that her dad enrolled her to a Taekwondo school back in childhood when she was eight years old to conquer her shyness and get acquainted with their new community then.
Her parents are reportedly running a Taekwondo training facility in the U.S. Her Taekwondo background was even highlighted during the question and answer portion of the Miss USA pageant last year.
She also posted photos of her South Korea trip on her Instagram account, including her trying out some of the local way of life.
