When Peyton (Aly Michalka) ran off after seeing Liv (Rose McIver) in full-on zombie mode last season, it left viewers wondering if she would ever come back to patch things up in "iZombie" season 2.
According to producer Rob Thomas, Aly Michalka didn't sign on as a series regular because she had been shooting another series. Unfortunately (for the series, bu fortunately for "iZombie"), the show wasn't able to get a set timeslot, which left the recently married actress free to come back next season.
Spoilers were shared during the CW show's Comic Con panel earlier this month which included Peyton's return to the series. This news was later confirmed when the actress herself showed up at the convention as the panel's surprise guest.
Hypable even thought her appearance at Comic Con might just mean that she will be promoted to series regular in "iZombie" season 2!
"I couldn't leave Peyton hanging and not come back," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Michalka as saying during the convention. "How could I not come back? I would like to learn more about Peyton in her personal life outside of being a roommate to Liv."
She also wanted to know how her character's relationship with Ravi (Rahul Kohli) will progress now that they both know Liv's secret.
On the other hand, whether or not Peyton will readily forgive (or accept) her best friend's new life is still a mystery. Liv does need her roommate's support now that "everyone" kind of hated her as a result of the Meat Cute massacre and explosion.
"As we start season 2, Major is still not quite over the fact that Liv did not let him in on her zombie secret," Entertainment Weekly quoted the showrunner. "Of course, is still on her walkabout around Europe as we start season 2. For reasons that we've all probably have seen, she's a bit on the outs with any surviving family members that she has."
Get to see Peyton again when "iZombie" season 2 returns to the CW on Oct. 6 at 9 p.m.
