'The Last Of Us 2' Confirmed? Naughty Dog Set To Pursue With The Sequel After 'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End?'

When all hopes for "The Last Of Us 2" release date were almost gone, suddenly a hint of light comes sparking the old flame once again.

Apparently, the highly anticipated sequel to the post apocalyptic game by Naughty Dog is indeed happening.

Game Rant was able to catch voice actor Nolan North who participated on a Q&A panel at MetroCon in Tampa, Florida, revealing that Naughty Dog is indeed pushing through with "The Last of Us 2."

"I know they're doing a 'Last of Us 2' but my character in Last of Us kind of had an untimely demise."

According to VC Post Naughty Dog is most likely going to set the release date announcement once the movie adaptation to the original game is set.

"Once Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us movie are taken care of, however, it might be a different story altogether. Unless Naughty Dog wants to move onto an entirely new IP, they might finally get around to giving us the The Last of Us sequel that so many of the game's fans are asking for."

However, "The Last of Us 2" game is reportedly going to move on with the story without Joel and Ellie in it.

"It's possible he won't want to compromise that ending with a sequel," Cinema Blend reported. "The development team at Naughty Dog might opt for a new story with never-before-seen characters instead."

While he admitted that "The Last of Us 2" release date is still "on ice" director Bruce Straley told Game Spot that it is indeed being talked about by the developers.

"We're 110 percent in Uncharted 4 territory now," Straley said. "Blinders on, make this awesome."

"We totally get it, because we have those same feelings as well. We have brainstormed sequel ideas for 'The Last of Us,' and we've brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on 'Uncharted 4.'"

Moreover, Movie Pilot claimed that players should expect something major from "The Last Of Us 2," like a multiplayer option that could be featured for the first time.

"Perhaps it would have been cool to have two different things happening at the same time," Movie Pilot revealed. "Rather than Joel waking up later, he could have woken up at the same time that Ellie started hunting. The screen would then have been split to two separate scenes and places, playing out in unison. It would be kinda cool, but a lot of work."
