Hillary Clinton has just been admitted to hospital with a blood clot, an after-effect of her concussion, where she will remain for the next two days, according to reports.
The U.S. Secretary of State was admitted to the New York Presbyterian Hospital on Sunday with a blood clot linked to a concussion she suffered earlier this month, the State Department said in a statement.
"Her doctors will continue to assess her condition, including other issues associated with her concussion. They will determine if any further action is required", said Philippe Reines, deputy assistant secretary of state.
Clinton, 65, has been out of the public spotlight since mid-December, when officials said she suffered a concussion after fainting due to a stomach virus contracted during a trip to Europe.
She canceled a planned trip to Morocco, and Victoria Nuland, a State Department spokeswoman, gave a mixed picture about the severity of her illness, describing her as having a "very uncomfortable stomach virus" and then saying she was "under the weather."
U.S. officials said on December 15 that Clinton suffered a concussion after fainting due to dehydration.
Hilary Clinton spent the holidays with her family last week after working from home.
She was scheduled to return to work at the State Department this week after being sidelined for the past three weeks. Her illness forced her to bow out of testifying December 20 before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Deputies Thomas Nides and Bill Burns appeared in her place.
