With Nina Dobrev now out of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7, the rest of the cast is up for new beginnings and new love interests including Damon who apparently loves Bonnie according to actor Ian Somerhalder.
Website Pop Sugar interviewed Ian Somerhalder, the actor behind Damon Salvatore, during the San Diego Comic-Con. They asked him if Damon and Bonnie could become a couple in the next "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7.
He said Damon loves Bonnie, played by actress Kat Graham.
"At the end of the day, Bonnie is truly one of the only people Damon would go to bat for. It's Stefan, Bonnie, Alaric, and Damon would go out on a limb for Matt," Somerhalder told Pop Sugar. "There are very few people that he would do this for, but he loves Bonnie."
He further noted that there are many "great scenes" coming on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7, including a potential love interest between Damon and Bonnie.
"The opening of season six, with Damon and Bonnie, is my favorite stuff ever," he went on. "She's the reason that Damon's girlfriend is chilled out in this box and when they look at each other, they resent each other, they love each other, and they are stuck together."
Last month, Graham also expressed her views and said that she is looking forward to seeing Bonnie and Damon develop into a love team on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7, Franchise Herald reported.
"I'm hoping for both," she said. "I'm hoping that we see both sides of their relationship and how it can affect them both because it's obviously going to screw with Bonnie and him, but especially Bonnie."
She further said there are still uncovered mysteries about Bonnie and her relationship with Damon and the people surrounding her "had not come full circle or had not fully developed," Christian Today reported.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 is starting this fall on The CW.
