Despite endless criticism, Warner Bros. is definitely moving forward with a "Wonder Woman" standalone film starring Gal Gadot.
While plot details have remained to be shrouded in secrecy, a latest development from the movie reveals that it has actually found the actor to play Steve Trevor.
"Star Trek" actor Chris Pine has reportedly closed the deal with Warner Bros. to play Wonder Woman's love interest in the standalone film, The Wrap reported.
According to the publication, Steve Trevor will not only play the love interest to Gal Gadot's Diana Prince, the character is reportedly going to share a lot of action scenes in a multi-picture deal.
Prior to this report, Chris Pine was actually first rumored to join Warner Bros. "Green Lantern Corps."
Patty Jenkins will direct "Wonder Woman," which will be produced by Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder together with Charles Roven and Richard Suckle of Atlas Entertainment. Jason Fuchs was tapped to write the script.
Wonder Woman set to be introduced next year in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" before her solo movie schedule to hit big screens on June 23, 2017.
Meanwhile, Gal Gadot shared details about her portrayal of Wonder Woman while gracing the cover of Interview magazine's August issue.
"I told them that I wanted to be able to show the stronger side of women. I didn't want to do the obvious role that you see in Hollywood most of the time, which is the heartbroken girl who's waiting to be rescued by the guy, blah, blah, blah," she said. "I wanted to do something different. Little did I know that I would land Wonder Woman not long after.
Adding, "I'm so excited about this role. I feel like I've been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for," Gadot added. "There's a lot of responsibility. But I have the best team and the best people to work with. It's going to be an amazing ride, knock on wood."
