After finally admitting that he is not going to appear in "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel, fans are reportedly enraged at "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill for giving false hopes, Realty Today reported.
"'Fifty Shades Darker'" fans are reportedly enraged after they learned that 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' actor Henry Cavill recently 'lied' about playing Jack Hyde in the sequel," the publication said.
Days before he finally put all the rumors of his involvement with "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel to rest, the "Man of Steel" star apparently made it sound that he's playing coy about the Jack Hyde role during an interview with E! News.
"Basically what I can say is I can't say anything about it right now," Cavill told E! News on camera.
His statement immediately made fans of "Fifty Shades" go crazy, however he immediately decided to end his "joke" when he told USA Today the real deal.
"I'm not in 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' I'm for real. I'm just messing with everyone."
Apparently, Henry Cavill got tired of getting involved with E.L. James' BDSM movie adaptation since day one despite his constant denials, thus he decided to play along.
"The first time around, everyone was asking, 'Are you Christian Grey?' I went 'No!' But no one cared and everyone kept talking about it. This time around, everyone is now still convinced I'm part of the series. Now the question is, 'Are you going to be in 'Fifty Shades Darker. ' And I thought, I'm going to try a different tact this time. See what they say. And so I tried a different tact."
The "Man of Steel" star finally decided to give everyone hope that he's actually involved in the sequel, only to tell them later that he's not actually in it.
"I thought I'd give everyone a go and then tell everyone the truth a moment later. It's not going to change."
And while most did not like what he did, he confessed that he enjoyed seeing fans' reaction to his statement saying it was "extraordinary."
"I'm going to do something like this again in the future and make a real social experience out of it."
