A Tunisian man ate 28 raw eggs as part of a bet and died shortly after and medical examiners are still searching for the cause of death, according to reports.
Dhaou Fatnassi, 20, from the town of Kairouan, swallowed the eggs after his friends challenged him to do so for an undisclosed sum of money. The bet was for him to eat 30 raw eggs, one after the other.
According to news.com.au, the man was taken to the hospital after experiencing stomach pains but died on arrival.
"Doctors were called in after the young man felt strong stomach pains, but he died before medical assistance could reach him," Tunisia's Shems FM radio station said in a report on Wednesday.
Although the cause of his cause death has not yet been confirmed but doctors believe that merely eating a huge quantity of raw eggs in one go is enough reason for his death.
Salmonella which causes food poisoning in raw foods like meat and eggs, is perhaps what Dhaou died from.
