In a landmark initiative to give runners the right beat so they can reach their daily pace goals, the Nike+ Running App partnered with Spotify to provide them with prescribed music as a guide to their running goals.
Nike+ Running app partners with Spotify to create a new app update that integrates the pace goal of runners and builds a playlist according to the data, Nike's official blog said.
Called Pace Stations, this update on the Nike+ Running app enables users to enter their pace goal and musical preference. The blog post said these information relay a target beats per minute (BPM), which will be needed to create a personalized playlist containing 100 songs.
"Our partnership with Spotify takes that experience to a new level, leveraging personalized music as motivational fuel every run, for every runner," said Adam Roth, Nike vice-president for Global Running Brand Marketing.
As for Spotify, it is not the first time the music streaming app partnered with Nike to guide users on their workout. Digital Trends reported that Spotify worked with Brunel University to create "the ultimate workout playlist" with songs from Pitbull, Katy Perry, Ke$ha and more.
The report also said Nike+ Running app's new update Pace Stations is only available on iOS for now, and is only accessible to Spotify Premium subscribers.
Nike+ Running app users however will be given a free week trial and a two-month extension if they are willing to give out their credit card number, the report added.
Fans who tried the new app update are loving it.
One Twitter user said, "Tonight's running theme was music. Tried out the Spotify/Nike+ Integration and didn't hate it."
Another user already tried the update on his morning run. He said, "I tried Nike+ Running with Spotify on this morning's run. Yeah... Gonna have to tweak those playlists a bit."
"Felt hyped with listening to Nike's running tempo mix on Spotify," a certain Cindy Incensario wrote on Twitter. "The playlist is really the 'bomb.'"
