'Deport Piers Morgan' Petition Gets 50,000 Signatures, Morgan Responds

| By

Piers Morgan lashed out on Twitter today after a petition appeared on the White House's official website which plead the U.S. government to deport him and has received almost 50,000 signatures.

Since it has received more than the required 25,000 signatures in order to get an official response, Morgan will have to wait and see what is decided. The 'Deport Piers Morgan' petition came after he made strong anti-gun comments following the Newtown, Connecticut, school shooting.

Last week, he called a gun advocate appearing on his "Piers Morgan Tonight" show an "unbelievably stupid man."

The petition calls his advocacy a "hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution," and demands that he "be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens."

Morgan, who is British, took to Twitter to express his response to the "Deport Piers Morgan" petition.

In a series of Twitter messages, he alternately urged his followers to sign the petition and in response to one article about the petition said "bring it on" as he appeared to track the petition's progress.

"If I do get deported from America for wanting fewer gun murders, are there any other countries that will have me?" he wrote.
